Mirta Rodriguez has been an employee with the ABCD Parker
Hill/ Fenway NSC for almost 5 years. She began working with the agency
as a Summerworks Youth and is currently the Administrative Coordinator.
As an administrative coordinator she not only handles the reception are,
but she also runs the Family Resource Center, support the Fuel Assistance,
Free Tax Program, and the SummmerWorks Program. Mirta also trains new staff
and offers supervision to SummerWorks youth and college work-study students.
Over the years she has taken various trainings to become more competent
in the various services the agency offers. These include: Introduction
to Family Planning, Family Development Credential, Child Safety, Food Safety,
Resources and Information Focus Group, Food Sanitation Training, Immigrants
and Public Benefits Training, Tax preparation, etc. Mirta is currently
an honor roll student at the Urban College of Boston and is pursuing her
degree in Human Service Management.

Reyes

Ana Reyes has been an employee with the ABCD Parker Hill/Fenway
NSC for almost 15 years. She began working with the agency as the Senior
Companion and since then has worked with the Mission Hill senior citizens
on various events and programs. Over the years she has organized special
workshops and trainings in health, fitness, and child safety for the seniors
as well as organized special events such as Mother’s Day luncheons
and summer picnics. Because of her numerous years of service to ABCD, Ana
has tremendous experience in all areas of the agency. She has worked as
the coordinator for the Food Pantry and is currently the Senior Center
and Fuel Assistance Coordinator at Parker Hill/Fenway. Aside from those
two programs, she also assists with administrative duties throughout the
year since she is fluent in both Spanish and English. Ana is certified
in Food Pantry Safety and has received extensive training in Sexual Assault
and Domestic Violence through HOPE. In 2003, Ana received ABCD’s
Community Award for her years of commitment and dedication as a valued
employee of the agency.
Name: Noemi
Sosa
Job Title: Senior Center Assistant/Cook

Noemí Sosa has dedicated eight years to ABCD Parker Hill/Fenway
NSC. Originally a homemaker, Noemí began volunteering for ABCD in
1997 after putting all three of her daughters in college. After three years
of volunteering for the Parker Hill/Fenway’s Senior Center, she became
an oficial employee in the fall of 2000. Noemí now works as the
Senior Center Cook and Food Pantry Organizer. Noemí makes delicious
meals several times a week for the Senior Center. She is also very active
in the agency’s Emergency Food Pantry. On a regular base, Noemi assists
with the food shopping as well as the organization of the pantry and the
prepartion of bags for clients. In 2000, she was recognized by ABCD and
received the Community Service Award for her tremendous dedication to the
ABCD Parker Hill/Fenway’s Senior Center.

Miranda
Job Title: Senior Center Assistant/Maintenance

As the current Food Pantry Organizer and Maintenance Personnel,
Juana Miranda, has been a valued employee of Parker Hill/Fenway for 6 years.
She began her employment as a Senior Companion, working through the Elderly
Commission of Boston. Eventually she became a member of the Parker Hill/Fenway’s
Senior Center and began her stay. Juana now works in maintenance. Her primary
duties are keeping the agency clean and tidy on a daily basis. The value
of her work is felt on days she is on vacation or has a day off and the
rest of the staff is left to clean for themselves. Juana also assists in
the Food Pantry to organize the shelves during food shopping days, cleaning
the mess after, and to also prepare bags for clients during regular food
pantry days.

Roman

Daniel Roman (Danny) is a new comer to ABCD. He began working
with ABCD one year ago as a Senior Companion provided by the Elderly
Commission Affairs. He works with the Senior Center as a supervisor during
times the community seniors are visiting the center. He also makes home
visits to accompany them to appointments or just to sit and chat. He
is also an advocate in times when issues arrive or a problem needs to
be solved. Danny is planning to receive a completion certificate at the
end of September 2005 for completing one year of service to community
seniors.
Name: Petra
Santos

Petra Santos has been actively involved in ABCD for over
14 years. She began in 1991 as a volunteer for the Parker Hill/Fenway
Senior Center. Since then she has worked with both the Emergency Food
Pantry and the Senior Center. Petra currently works with the Elderly
Affairs in Boston City Hall as a Senior Companion and frequently makesvisits
to the homes of local Mission Hill seniors to assist them with anything
they may need such as grocery shopping, translation, appointments, etc.
Over the years she has received a number of awards and recognitions for
her service. Some of these include the Boston Police Community Service
Award, the Mayor’s Award for Service, and was recognized by the
Boston Housing Authority for her contributions to the community.

D. Pimentel Jr.

Ruben Pimentel has been volunteering at ABCD Parker
Hill\ Fenway for the past 5 years in the technology department. And
has been in the SummerWorks for 2 years. He is currently working here
at Parker Hill doing the website and all of our technological things
that we need done. He has: edited all of our necessary picture for
anything, taken pictures for select events, redone the entire website,
made a new newsletter for SummerWorks 2005, updated the inventory for
all of our technical equipment, done program flyers, and done awards
for the center.
Thank you to Ms. Johnson
On
April 15, 2005, Parker Hill/Fenway regrettably said good-bye to Rena
Johnson as she boarded the bus for retirement. Ms. Johnson, as so many
fondly calls her, dedicated over 40 years of her life to working with
ABCD. As the Food Pantry Coordinator, Ms. Johnson helped feed thousands
of hungry Boston residents during her employment with the agency.
On
behalf of the board members and staff of Parker Hill/Fenway and the
residents of the Mission Hill and Fenway area, we would like to thank
Ms. Johnson for her years of service to the agency and neighborhood.
Your contributions and well wishes will remain with us for a very long
